Lessons in Conservation: Volume 14

April 2025 - Diverse Skills in Conservation
The cover of lessons in conservation has a bison reflected in the water with mountains behind.

This issue of Lessons in Conservation, "Diverse Skills in Conservation," highlights a wide range of practical skills applicable across the field. From practicing direct observation, to utilizing data—both gathered by citizen scientists and from long-term ecological datasets—to using remote sensing tools. This issue also includes a synthesis document and two exercises that provide background theory and practical logistics of conducting conservation museomics projects. These modules are contextualized by two perspectives which help situate this work in the current moment—calling on educators to incorporate student voices and make small, meaningful changes to foster hope in conservation practice.

Lessons in Conservation is the official journal of the Network of Conservation Educators and Practitioners (NCEP) and is currently available in electronic format. All materials in Lessons in Conservation are peer-reviewed and are reproduced from NCEP teaching modules. If you plan to use these materials in your teaching, you may wish to download easily modifiable Word versions of the materials found in Lessons in Conservation, along with additional teaching and learning modules, from the NCEP module collection.
